While you might hire a wedding planner to plan your wedding, she will do a lot more than just that. Many of these small or big tasks that your wedding planner takes on are things you will never know about…check out some of what they are!
- She must deal with constant vendor mishaps. For example, late arrivals, shortage of rental items, catering problems, and most importantly, attitudes.
- She might buy extra items for décor that you did not ask for just because she feels they will add to your wedding.
- She handles drunken guests and misbehaving children so they do not cause any commotion.
- She plunges clogged toilets and cleans up spillages when she needs to.
- She takes the blame for decisions when family members are unhappy about them.
- She sets up the reception area in 20 minutes when nothing is running on schedule.
- In preparation for your wedding, she sits for hours doing detail work and making favors at home.
- She tells you that everything is going smoothly even though there is always at least a small glitch.
- She tries to stay nice and respectful when guests treat her condescendingly.
- She will go buy more ice/soda/beer/liquor/water/cups, etc. if they are running low or completely run out.
- She moves your gifts to the designated person’s car or room.
- She will put your cards in a safe place.
- She places table numbers and/or place cards in their appropriate locations and makes sure the correct number of guests are at each table.
- She places the boutonniere(s) on the groom and/or groomsmen.
- She signals the musicians/DJ on when to start singing or playing songs during the ceremony and reception.
- She will bring everything even if you said you would bring it yourself in the case you might forget.
- She will steam your wedding dress/bridesmaid’s dresses.
- She is ready for the event that your outdoor wedding needs to be moved indoors due to weather.
- She has multiple backup plans and possesses the ability to think on her feet to fix every and any unexpected situation.
- She searches for potential venues and vendors for you then visits them with you.
- She will make sure the photographer takes the kind of pictures you want.
- She will gather your bridal party for special events during the reception and makes sure they do their assigned tasks.
- Before you head back to the bridal suite, she will clean it up when housekeeping didn’t do as planned and is gone for the day.
- She cuts and serves the wedding cake if needed.
- She gets countless emails from vendors and will not send you their email or invoice until the vendor has everything correct.
- She must work collaboratively with mothers.
- She will act as an MC if the DJ does not make any announcements.
- She will clean up broken glass on the dance floor.
- She carries around a copy of your wedding vows just in case you accidentally lose them.
- She checks every few minutes to make sure your rings are in her possession before the wedding.
Although, luckily, not all these things happen at every wedding, you can be sure that you have left your special day in very capable hands!
