The New Year is here and engagement season is in full effect! Below we put the trends we have seen are becoming the most popular so you can make your wedding unique.
Non-Traditional: Couples are really wanting to show their guests who they are and put aspects of themselves in the wedding. Traditional is out, a new non-traditional trends are in, time to get creative!
Monograms: Creating a monogram of both your names and putting it on everything like your invitations, website, cocktail napkins and even a GOBO on the dance floor.
First Look: Seeing each other before the ceremony and taking your pictures then so you have time to enjoy your cocktail hour or get other pictures you might want.
Brunch Weddings: We do not know about you but we love brunch! So why not make your wedding during brunch? It does not need to be super early but an early afternoon on a Sunday sounds perfect and more economical (need we say more?). Brunch weddings open up a whole new world of ideas and possibilities.
Photo Booth: Having this at your wedding is a must! Allow your guests to remember the fun time they had at your event by making a DIY photo booth or hiring a professional company to set it up!
Table Seating: Away with the round tables and in with rectangular seating! Couples are moving away from big round tables that may give a conference-feel to their wedding and using long rectangular tables that initiate socializing instead.
DIY Hand Done Items: Give a little spark to your wedding by adding personal touches about the two of you! Use chalkboards, pictures, or even personalized centerpieces.
Cakes: Extravagant cakes can be pretty, but naked cakes are the new hit in 2016. Buttercream icing is also coming back, while fondant is out!
Wedding Hashtags: A few things to keep in mind when using them is that Capitalization is KEY, Keep it SIMPLE and let your GUEST KNOW about the hash tags; the only way for the hash tag to get out there is to put sings around the wedding or include it in your wedding website!
Bar/Stations: Having fun creative stations for your guest is always exciting. Some popular ones are having a bubbles/mimosa bar, a candy station, a martini bar, create your own cupcake station, create your own food station, or even a mashed potato bar. All these stations/bars I’m sure the guest will enjoy and appreciate!
Lighting: There are so many beautiful ways to use lights either during the actual wedding ceremony or during the reception. You can use light up letters, chandeliers, hanging candles, or even pathway lighting. Lights can significantly change the ambiance of your special day.
No Sit-down Dinner: It can be a wedding for 200+ people or 50 people, not having a full course sit-down meal after the ceremony is definitely an option. During the reception time you are able to have a couple of tables with chairs and then cocktail tables for the rest. Have a combination of both heavy and light appetizers for your guests; for example, a heavier appetizer would be something like a heaping spoonful of lobster mac ‘n cheese, mini pulled pork sandwiches or meatballs. A light appetizer could consist of fruit, cheese, and/or crackers.
Flowers: Simplicity is what’s HOT nowadays and table long arrangements for the rectangular tables versus large over the tops in round tables. Also the fact that now all centerpieces are being done differently or a small variety of 3-4 different ones so that the tables vary.
Film and Digital Photography: A lot of brides are now going with a mix of both film and digital photography! Gives you a different look in your pictures from the color, dynamic range, grain and what it does with natural light.
Soft Palettes OR Vibrant Colors: It is all about either going nice and soft or going all our there! If you’re looking for a softer, maybe more vintage theme wedding a pastel theme is the way to go but if you love color then find a combination that works and go wild!
Intimate/Adventure Weddings: If you’re looking to have a more intimate wedding an adventure destination is a great way to make your special day memorable. Find a place you both love and make it happen!
